For when the stakes are high and your team is at capacity, I bring calm, clear, experienced support.

Abby McIntyre

Senior advisory support for leaders navigating pressure, complexity and high-stakes communication.

Abby helps senior leaders get clearer under pressure so communication can do its job without carrying the full weight of an unclear decision.

If you are carrying a consequential decision, a trust-sensitive issue or a communications function that is harder to run than it should be, I can help you find steadier ground, clearer language and a practical sequence for what to do next.

Clarity for high-stakes decisions

A focused engagement to help you communicate a consequential decision with more clarity, alignment and credibility.

 This is for you if:

  • A decision needs to move, but the communication around it is not clear enough yet
  • Leaders are not fully aligned on what to say, when to say it or how it will land
  • The risk of confusion, mistrust or avoidable strain is starting to rise

Where Abby can help:

  • Leadership transition
  • Restructuring, service change or program shift
  • Board-facing discussions or announcements
  • Staff receiving mixed signals
  • Partner or community questions growing

What you get:

  • Clear framing for the decision
  • Guidance on two to three priority audiences
  • Leadership-safe language you can actually use
  • A practical sequence for what to communicate now vs. later

Trust and reputational support

Short-cycle advisory support for situations where trust, scrutiny, visibility or reputational strain is already rising.

This is for you if:

  • Something has become delicate, exposed or fast-moving
  • You need judgment and proportion, not just speed
  • The communication path is not yet clear, but the risk of making it worse is real

Where Abby can help:

  • A visible issue or public concern starting to build
  • Internal concern widening beyond the immediate team
  • Pressure escalating among key groups (media, funders, community, partners)
  • A misstep, complaint or difficult development that needs proportionate response
  • A sensitive people issue with broader trust implications
  • An unfolding situation where timing and containment matter as much as messaging

What you get:

  • Clear communications judgment for the situation
  • Guidance on the audiences that matter most
  • Leadership-safe language
  • A practical sequence for what to communicate now vs. later

Communications structure that fits your reality

A bounded engagement to reduce the structural friction that makes communications harder to run than it should be.

This is for you if:

  • Roles are unclear and too many voices shape the message
  • Approvals and planning do not hold up in practice
  • Communication feels reactive no matter how hard the team works
  • The issue is operating conditions, not effort or capability

Where Abby can help:

  • Growth or organizational change exposing old ways of communicating
  • A leadership transition or team reset
  • Approval and governance loops slowing everything down
  • Too many voices shaping messages, causing rework and inconsistency
  • Planning that exists but doesn’t translate into execution
  • A strong team stuck in reactive mode because the operating conditions are messy

What you get:

  • A clear view of where structure is creating drag, confusion or rework
  • Practical recommendations on what to reset
  • A more workable path for how communications moves through your team

Speaking and workshopS

Speaking topics

When communication is carrying the weight of an unclear decision

  • Why rework and drift are often a decision-clarity issue first, and how leaders reset the conditions before more messaging makes it worse.

Signal beats volume

  • Why more updates don’t create confidence when things are moving fast, and how leaders give clearer signals about what’s decided, what’s changing and what matters most.

Containment is a leadership function

  • Why trust gets damaged by timing and overexposure as much as by what gets said, and how great  leaders use sequencing and proportion to reduce avoidable risk under scrutiny.

Leadership-safe language is an operating asset

  • Why inconsistency across leaders and levels creates confusion and exposure, and how leaders build language that can hold in the boardroom, with managers and staff, with partners and in public.

Workshops

Decision clarity reset (team-based or 1:1)

  • Why: Rework and drift usually mean the decision line isn’t clear enough yet. People are filling in the gaps and the message keeps shifting.
  • How: We clarify what’s decided, what’s still in motion and what needs to be true before you communicate more broadly.
  • You leave with: a short decision line, the core messages leaders can repeat and a simple sequence for what to say now vs. later.

Communicate with trust  (team-based or 1:1)

  • Why: Trust gets shaky when people don’t understand what’s happening, what’s being handled and what they’re supposed to believe. The “guessing gap” turns into speculation, inconsistent answers and avoidable follow-up. Trust is an everyday work condition tied to handoffs, clarity, consistency and follow-through.
  • How: We run a practical working session on one live issue. We map where trust holds and where it slips, then set a shared “trust line”: what to share now, what to hold, how to explain the work without oversharing and what needs to stay consistent so coordination travels across the team.
  • You leave with: a shared trust line, plain-language talking points and a Q and A spine leaders and managers can use, plus 3–5 team commitments and one small practice each person can try that week.

Customized workshops are also available. Email me to discuss.
